As stipulated by the SFWF’s Act No. 12 of 2002:
Section 2: A small farmer is defined as a small planter, small breeder or small agro–processor or a group of small planters, breeders or agro-processors registered with the Fund.

The registration of farmers allows the extension of facilities to eligible bonafide farmers in a structured and efficient manner.
The FCD supports implementation of relevant schemes and is shared with other institutions for the development of the agricultural sector.
Note: Small farmers who were registered for the period 2017–2018 are not required to submit their photograph unless they wish to provide a recent one.
A registration fee of Rs 650 (representing membership for two years) is payable.
